Funded by the Saffron Neighbourhood Board, the local Junior Youth Inclusion Programme ran a weeklong soccer school for local young people in partnership with SI Sports. Attended by more than 30 young people aged between 8 to 12 years the programme looked at football skills and the value of team dynamics but also explored various issues including railway safety and bullying. The soccer school included a visit by players from Leicester City Football Club and a tournament and presentation event at Goals Soccer Centre attended by a range of delegates.
Police Community Support Officer Hardip Dayal said "It was a fantastic event and the local neighbourhood policing team support this type of initiative. It was also good to see that reports of the types of issues that we often get during school holiday periods were lower than expected."
Lee Martin, Project Co-ordinator of the Junior Youth Inclusion Programme, said “The event was a success and engaged with over 30 young people. A big thank you to the Neighbourhood Board for funding the week.”
